Jeanne F. Adams, 93, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2020 at Kimball Farms in Lenox. Jeanne was born in West Stockbridge, MA on August 30, 1927, the daughter of the late William J. Adams and Agnes Howley Adams. She was a 1945 graduate of Searles High School, where she played basketball and field hockey and was a member of the cheering squad. While at Searles, Jeanne met George Adams, who, funnily enough, shared her last name but was a complete stranger to her prior to their fateful meeting in high school. Jeanne and George were high school sweethearts and married in 1948. Jeanne worked as a private duty nurse at Fairview Hospital prior to accepting a position at Doctor Gilligan's office. Jeanne worked diligently with Doctor Gilligan as the office nurse for fourteen years and was a warm, comforting presence at the office. Jeanne took immense pride in her work and always donned her freshly starched, white nurse uniform and cap. Jeanne also served for two years as Chairman of the Residents' Health Committee for Kimball Farms Nursing Home. During retirement, Jeanne enjoyed assisting George with his doll house creations and found great joy in selecting the wallpaper and designing the interiors of the houses. Jeanne would then donate the doll houses to her church in Sheffield for the annual Christmas raffle. In 2006, Jeanne and George moved to Kimball Farms, where, on August 28, 2018, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary surrounded by their friends. Jeanne and George remained lovingly by each other's side until George's death in 2019. Jeanne is survived by her two nieces, Mary Bourgeois and Joann Shelby, and two nephews, Jim Cunningham and Bill Adams. Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, William Adams and Agnes Adams, her husband, George Adams and her siblings, Robert Adams, William Adams, Dorothy Adams and Virginia Cunningham.
It is with deepest regret that the funeral services for Jeanne Adams were private out of concern for the health and safety of her friends and family due to the threat of Covid 19. Arrangements entrusted to BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South Street Great Barrington MA 01230. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.
