Jeanette M. Van Almelo September 15, 2022 Jeanette M. Van Almelo, 78, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Born in Syracuse to the late Ardavast M. and Ann (Donvito) Babikian, she graduated from Saint John The Evangelist Catholic High School, CCBI and continued her studies to become a teacher at the Sidney Johnson Vocational Center in Syracuse, NY. In 2001, she retired from to the Syracuse City School District. Jeanette was an avid reader who loved to travel, especially into the Adirondacks to enjoy the woods and wildlife. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and sweaters for friends. Most of all, she loved her husband and sons. Surviving are her husband, A. Paul Van Almelo, whom she had married on July 4, 1967 at Blessed Sacrament Church; her sons, Paul G. and Todd J. Van Almelo; her sister, Karen Kudaraukas; her brothers, Mihran and Robert Babikian and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 21st from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street. A mass is being held at 10 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 409 South Main Street, North Syracuse followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
