was called home by our Lord on January 13, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Jean was born in Brownsville, Texas to the late Margaret Raby Webb and Laurent Webb on July 14, 1937. Jean was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his country and was very proud to be a Marine Corps Veteran. Having joined the military at the young age of 17, Jean's life was marked by an unwavering sense of duty. As a Marine, he served with distinction, a chapter of his life that shaped his character and his sense of patriotism, honesty, and integrity.
After returning home, he married the love of his life, Yolanda Valentin. Together they raised two daughters, Michelle and Renee. This last December, they celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage and many great shared memories. He was a dedicated husband and father who had a deep love for his family. He was such a proud grandfather and found great joy in the company of his grandchildren. They brought him immeasurable happiness.
Jean prided himself on his integrity and work ethic. This was true his entire life. As a banker for 37 years, he believed in the power of giving someone your word. A strong handshake meant business to him.
Believing in giving back to the community he loved so much, Jean devoted much of his time to organizations he was passionate about, such as Rio Grande Marine Institute, serving on its board of trustees, as well as serving on the board for Texas International Fishing Tournament. He was instrumental in founding the Roadrunner Rally bike ride, which ultimately became the source of many college scholarships.
Outside of his family and work, Jean was an adventure enthusiast. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting in his younger years, fishing, skeet and trap shooting, scuba diving, bike races, rollerblading, and upon retirement thoroughly enjoyed riding his many motorcycles all over the country and in Mexico and had countless exhilarating journeys with his friends in doing so.
Jean will be remembered for his kindness, sense of adventure, humor, zest for life, and his love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Preceding him in death were his parents, Margaret Raby Webb and Laurent Webb; siblings, Laurent Bonner Webb, and Renee Webb Hamblen.
Survivors include his loving wife, Yolanda, his daughters, Michelle Corbeil and Renee Crouch (Lance), and grandchildren Devon Corbeil, Briona Corbeil, Calley Crouch, and Dillon Crouch, and numerous nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Jean's life, visitation will be Friday, January 24, 2025 at Delta Funeral Home, 1300 East Harrison Street, Brownsville, Texas from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a short service at 1:30 p.m. The family will gather for a private interment at Buena Vista Burial Park.
