Jean Suzanne Bryant was born on July 5, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas together with her twin sister Jerrie. The family moved to Houston where they grew up and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Jean worked various jobs and eventually moved to Dallas and joined Braniff Airways as a flight attendant. She met Bob and they were married on October 11, 1961, embarking on 61 years of marriage. Jean left Braniff to forge new paths, first as a full-time mother and later by returning to school and earning her associate degree in nursing from El Centro College. She served as a registered nurse at several local hospitals over the years. Best known as Jean Stras, she and Bob raised six children and were parishioners at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church for more than a half-century. Jean's love for her children showed in her hard work and determination to give them the best possible upbringing. She was one of the original soccer moms, supporting her children's activities in many roles ranging from girl scout leader and den mom to swim club president. Jean was also active in parish groups like the Catholic Daughters, supported Bob's Knights of Columbus Council 5052 through the Ladies Auxiliary, and contributed to other charitable and Catholic endeavors. She was always there to help when needed and will be greatly missed. She passed away peacefully on December 19, 2023, and her family expresses thanks to all who cared for Jean and Bob in their later years. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Sue, by her husband Bob, by her sister Jerrie, and by two sons, Pat and Martin. She is survived by four children: Gina (Steve), Robert, Rita (Chuck), and Mike (Mimi). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch, Texas on January 5, 2024, at 11:00am, preceded by the praying of the rosary at 10:30am. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00am.
