Hilda Jean (Ison) Smith, 82 of Lewis Center, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 12, 1940 at home in Piketon, Ohio, the daughter of the late Milburn & Leona (Zimmerman) Conley. Jean graduated from Piketon High School in 1958. Shortly after she met and married her first husband Kendall Ison. Jean worked for Huntington National Bank, the municipal court in Delaware, and the Anheuser- Busch Company before retiring. Kendall passed away in 1983. Jean remarried on November 10, 1984 to Kenneth Smith. They began their winters as Snowbirds in Florida, before officially moving to Florida in 1998. Jean enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, and going to the casino in Florida. Jean also enjoyed tending to her flower garden. She was also a wonderful cook, her family and those close to her will remember her potato salad, and cabbage rolls. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Kendall, infant sister, sisters-in-law Janet Conley, and Betty Skinner, brothers and sister-in-laws Bob & Carolyn Smith and Gerald & Esther Smith, brother-in-law Waldo Martin. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenneth Smith; children Craig (Vicki) Ison, Sandy (Bob) Fish; step-son Curtis (Suellen) Smith; grandchildren Eric (Jodie Thompson) Skeens, Staci Ison, Tyler Fish, Kyle (Stephanie Brown) Fish; step-grandchildren Beth (Jay) Sans, Zack (DeeJay) Smith, and Katie (Shane) Phipps; great-grandchildren Tyler, Dylan, Chloe, Brody, Cannan, Jordan, Ellie, Kendal, Corbin, Miles, and Kailey; brothers Russell and Paul (Nita) Conley; sister-in-law Martha Martin. Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday, January 2, 2022 at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015, where services celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 pm.
