Jean M. Shanahan, 94, of Plantsville, passed away peacefully after a long illness, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at LiveWell in Plantsville.Jean was born on July 29, 1928 in New Haven, CT to the late Matthew and Evelyn (Faull) Shanahan. In her younger years, Jean lived in East Haven, CT. Jean later moved to Manhattan and worked as a secretary for Rolls Royce and then for Allen & Company. She will be remembered for being a patron of the arts and as an animal lover, especially cats. Jean is survived by her niece Patricia Adams and husband Geoffrey of Lynn Haven, FL and nephews, Thomas J. Higgins and wife MaryJean of Meriden and Raymond M. Higgins and wife Lou Ann of Plantsville. She is also survived by 5 grandnephews and one grandniece and their families, Geoffrey Adams Jr., Michael Adams, Daniel Higgins, Kaitlin Higgins, Christopher Higgins and Matthew Higgins. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary E. and Raymond T. Higgins. Jean's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the entire staff at LiveWell for their loving and compassionate care. Donations in Jean's memory may be made to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St, Plantsville. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Plantsville. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
