Jean Savage
We couldn’t get together in person, but family and friends can still celebrate the lives of Jean and Dick Savage, who touched so many of us!
Jean Savage, age 96 of Lowell, passed away peacefully with her son Rick and daughter-in-law Carol at her side on May 26, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Dick Savage, who passed away at the age of 91 in 2018. She was also preceded in death by her only sibling, her sister Dorothy Wiley. Both Jean and Dorothy were born to George and Helen (Eldred) Karras in Detroit. Jean is survived by her only child, Rick (Carol) Savage of Lowell. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, James (Simone) Savage and Carrie (Steve) Jones ; her great grand daughters, Liliana, Angela and Julia Savage; her nieces, Bridget Rutherford, Doreen Wiley, Anna Scott, Linda Guy-Smith and nephews, Brad Wiley and Dan Savage. She is also survived by grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Jean was forever cheerful and devoted her life to her family and friends. She took an interest in all those she met. She moved to Lowell in 1979 and volunteered for years at Friends of Lowell Library. Jean and Dick lived in the country next door to her son and daughter in-law for over 30 years until moving to Schneider Manor in 2016. Partially paralyzed by a stroke in 2018 led to her move to the special care unit of Fountain View of Lowell where she continued to spread her positive disposition even though confined to a wheelchair for 4 years. She was well cared for up to her death. Thank you for your care and love to the staff of Fountain View and thanks to The Care Team Hospice who provided tender care in her final few months of life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Fountain View of Lowell or The Care Team Hospice. There will be no personal service. Instead, family and friends are welcome to a virtual tribute to both Jean and Dick Savage at WeRemember.com.
