Jean Ringstaff Bullard of Leesburg passed away on August 6, 2022. The memorial service will be held on
Saturday, August 13 th , 11 a.m., Gillionville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.
until the service hour.
Jean was the daughter of Fred and Margaret Ringstaff. She was born in Chester, South Carolina on
February 23, 1940. The family moved to Albany when she was high school age and made it her lifetime
home. She was a 1958 graduate of Albany High School.
She retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in 2003. She worked part-time at Belk for several years
while working full-time on Base. After retirement, she began a new full-time career working at Dillard's
at the Albany Mall. She once said, "If I had known I would love retail so much, I would have made a
career out of it." Little did she know that it became a second career. She worked in several departments
including fragrances and fine accessories for over 20 years. Jean enjoyed interacting with customers and
being in the center of the shopping hustle and bustle, knowing what the finest, trendiest, and most
popular handbag on the market was at the time. She received the prestigious Dillard's Pacesetter award
for high sales volumes for multiple years.
She was a member of Gillionville Baptist Church and the Women in Faith Sunday School Class.
Jean and her husband Jerry enjoyed extensive travel over the years? cruises, Hawaii (three times), the
Northeast, European travel, and many road trips to visit "the grands."
She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Jerry Bullard, two sons: Jeff Martin (Lynn) and Richard
Martin (Rose Marie); five grandchildren who she said many times were the apple of her eye: Claire
Martin, Lindsey Martin, Hatcher Martin, Nathan Martin, and Katie Martin. She was known as their
Nanny and loved every minute spoiling them with favorite foods and showering them with gifts. Her
love language was a giver.
The family would like to thank the co-worker family at Dillard's for their friendship and kindness over
the years, right until the day she became ill. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to
Gillionville Baptist Church women's ministry. You may sign the online guestbook and share your own special thoughts and memories by visiting www.kimbrellstern.com.
