Frances Jean Murray Goff, age 89, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born March 4, 1932, she was the daughter of Millard Guy Murray and Pattie Thompson Murray. Following marriage to her first husband of 53 years, Henry L. Bennett, they made their home in Greene County and both began working with E.I. DuPont in Kinston. However, a hobby of photography became the pathway for their establishing Bennett's Studio which quickly became renowned for perfection in portraits and photographs, especially weddings. Their love of photography brought them to Snow Hill where they built a home with a large landscaped yard including many water features and a pond; their yard became the setting for many portraits of all types through the years. Jean and Henry both possessed a strong work ethic and maintained their home and its landscaping with the same meticulous nature of which they contributed to their photography clients. The weddings, portraits, and life events that they captured for people are beyond measure and they were always together capturing the moment; Henry behind the camera and Jean making sure every crease and hair was in place. Following Henry's death in 2006, Jean met and married Mr. Prince Goff who was from Bailey. After their marriage they divided their time between Jean's home in Snow Hill and his in Bailey. Jean had been a longtime and active member of Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church and Prince joined her there in the congregation. She and Prince enjoyed several happy years together before his death in 2021. In addition to her parents and husbands, Jean was preceded in death by her siblings, Edna Earl Inscoe, Lovine Boswell, Mildred Bobbitt, McClelland Murray, Rolland Guy Murray, and Keith Murray. Jean is survived by her sister, Janice Mills and husband Brooks of Spring Hope; several nieces and nephews; and special friends of her community and church. The family would also like to recognize and thank a dear friend of Jean's, Vicky Wise of Snow Hill. Funeral services will be held graveside 2 PM Tuesday, February 22nd, at the Stantonsburg Cemetery with Reverend Jim Marcum and Pastor Frank Rice officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
