Jean Mccleary Weisert passed away August 27 at the age of 81 at her home in Gainesville, Florida. While raising her family of three boys, Jean graduated in the first graduating class from the Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) in 1973. She later taught secretarial science at COTC. Jean continued her dogged educational pursuit receiving her baccalaureate degree in 1987 from Ohio University (Gum Laude) at the age of 46. Jean's dream job was that as a technical writer for Sverdrup Corporation in Columbus, Ohio in support of Project 88, a project to permit compliance with the clean Water Act. Jean concluded her work career as Assistant Director of the Licking County Ohio Board of Elections, a position that she loved, where she teamed with MaryJo Long who became her lifelong friend.
Jean loved the Buckeye Lake, Ohio area where she lived for 26 years and weekly dinners at the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club with friends. Jean loved being a Democrat and was an active participant in party functions for many years. She and her husband, Tim, ran an unsuccessful, but a lot of fun, campaign for Licking County Ohio Commissioner. During her days at the Licking County Board of Elections she loved gatherings with her Democrat and Republican colleagues following meetings at the Natoma Restaurant in Newark, Ohio for a beverage or two. Jean loved to golf and distinguished herself for her putting style in which she never considered the break. She was a breast cancer survivor and hosted "Brown Bag Lunches" helping several women identify breast cancer and obtain successful treatment. She loved to play bridge especially with lifelong friends from high school days.
Jean was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to Jason (Jake) Mccleary and Evelyn (Carpenter) Mccleary on April 28,1941. Jean is survived by her husband of 36 years, Tim; her sons, Brad Cashdollar, Dirk (Kim) Cashdollar, Wade Cashdollar; her daughters, Tiffany Weisert, Alyse Weisert (Bob) MCMenamin; her sister, Joanne (Rod) Kiefus. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Joyce Shaffar and Janet Sheldon. Jean loved being a grandmother to her "4 Amigos", Pierce Cashdollar (deceased), Summer Cashdollar, Taylor Cashdollar, Paige Cashdollar. Anderson (deceased); her grandchildren, Brendan Cashdollar, Patricia MCMenamin, Sarah MCMenamin, Colleen MCMenamin, Alisha (Nick) Young, Hailey Tribble; her great-grandchildren, Carter Anderson, Avery Young, Lainey Young; sister-in-law Sue Weisert; brother-in-law Dennis (MaryJo) Weisert; a special uncle in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Neitcarpenter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins spread throughout the country from Ohio to Missouri to Kansas to California.
Jean's ashes will be interred in Ohio. A memorial service commemorating Jean's life will be held in Ohio later in September. Memorial contributions in Jean's memory may be made to the Hydrocephalus Association (hydroassoc.org). Please visit her memorial page at www.williamsthomasfuneralhome.com.
