Jean Annette Shumpert Lucas July 2, 2022 Pelion, South Carolina - Jean Annette Shumpert Lucas, 79, passed away July 2, 2022, at home with family by her side. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Malcolm Eugene Lucas; her children Elizabeth Annette Lucas Reynolds and her husband Michael Eugene Reynolds, David Odell Lucas and his wife Melinda Buchanan Lucas, and Anna Priscilla Lucas Burr; grandchildren Sarah Necola Burr and Lucas Edward Burr; and her brother, Joseph Francis Shumpert. Born and raised in Pelion, SC, Annette was the daughter of the late Cyrus David Shumpert and the late Necola Hallman Shumpert. She was a teacher and high school guidance counselor at Pelion High School as well as a lifelong member of Pelion Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pelion Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Pelion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pelion Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Pelion Baptist Church, P.O. Box 276, Pelion SC, 29123.
