Jean Keeney passed away peacefully in her home on October 29, 2021.
Jeanie was born in Long Beach California on December 16, 1943, the only child of Thomas and Margaret Taylor. They later moved to Issaquah, WA where she spent her childhood growing up.
Jeanie later attended Skagit Valley college where she met her future husband, Earl. They were married in 1965. They then moved to Bellingham to attend college at Western Washington University. After college, they moved from Washington to Montana, to California and to Oregon.
Jeanie and Earl returned to Washington in 1979 and bought a home in Burlington. When Earl became a deputy for Island County Sheriff's office, they moved to Camano Island, where they lived until Earl's passing in 2012.
Jeanie worked for Mount Vernon Police Department, hired on as a dispatcher in 1981 and then promoted to Records Manager in 1987. Jeanie was passionate about her job and cherished her law enforcement family. She was with the department for 25 years, retiring in 2006.
Jeanie and Earl enjoyed traveling and meeting people. They were able to extend their travels to Australia, several Windjammer cruises in the Caribbean and cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal. They were avid NASCAR fans, following the races to several parts of the country. In 2011 they drove to Alaska, Las Vegas and Arizona, then flew to Hawaii, where they spent Christmas and New Years.
After Earls passing, Jeanie became reacquainted with longtime friend George Russell. They moved to Mount Vernon together in 2014 until George's passing in 2019.
Jeanie is survived and missed by the ones she called family, and her many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
