Jean Marilyn (Corbett) Cavanagh took the hand of the Lord to live in his dwelling forever on January 24, 2024.
Jean was born on November 15, 1929 in Northfield, Vermont as the fifth child of her late parents, Robert J. Corbett and Florence G. (Fox) Corbett.
As a child, Jean's family left the Vermont farm to live in Massachusetts. She graduated from Wakefield, MA schools and after the war, married her high school sweetheart, the late John B. Cavanagh. Jean and John ("Cav") were married for 64 years before Cav's passing in 2013. Jean and Cav had made their home in NH, having lived in Bennington, Amherst, Weare, Gilford and finally in the seacoast to be near their son and daughter-in-law.
Jean tried her hand at selling antiques and real estate but her real enjoyment came with caring for her animals. She always opened her heart to the many dogs that came home, unannounced, with Cav. They had two horses while living in Amherst and raised pigs, sheep, goats, beef critters and chickens at their "Little Brick Farm" in Weare. Never living far from water, they spent many happy days on their small fishing boat.
Jean and Cav enjoyed the companionship of their many friends with the Bektash Shriners and Drum Corps, with whom they travelled to many places around the world. Jean was also a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Laconia.
Jean's survivors include her son John Jr. and his wife Linda of Rye NH; granddaughter Rebecca and husband Brandon of North Hampton NH; granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Nicholas of Northfield NH; and sister-in-law Jacqueline of Georgia; She was loved immensely by her family.
The family will memorialize Jean at a later date with an interment service at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, to be by Cav's side.
