In 1959, with her 2 children in tow, she crossed the pond and began life in Rome, GA. She attended Coosa Valley Technical College and graduated from Victor Educational Services Institution with Letter A Commendation for Outstanding Achievement in 1968.
She is survived by her children, Paul Carter and Carol Carter; her granddaughter, Nicole Carter, of Yorkville; her grandson, Ian Greer (Chris), of San Antonio, TX; and her brother, Jeffery Cliff Bodecott (Sally), of Tenderden Kent, England.
Jean had great friendships with Joyce Nelson, Margaret Wimberly, Ruth Hewett, and Avis Ivey. All preceded her in death.

Jean requested no service. So please take a moment to reflect on your fondest memory of her. Her ashes will be spread in the North Atlantic Current.
Jeff Bodecott writes, "Jean, I love you, miss you, and will always miss you. You will forever be part of my life. So, to say I will continue to miss you is an understatement. Arthur, our brother, felt the same way as I did. I only wish you could have lived in England, so we could have shared our common bond and lives together.
Sally Bodecott writes, "A nicer sister-in-law would be hard to find. You were so courageous, a considerate and loyal friend, and my love for you will last my lifetime.".
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Jean Kathleen Bodecott Carter.
