Jean Brooks, age 86, passed away January 15, 2021. Jean was born in Cleveland, where she lived until relocating to Akron in 1983. She started her career in the accounting department of Tremco, Inc., (Cleveland) and later as a Secretary to one of Tremco's senior executives. When the executive was hired by BFGoodrich (Akron), Jean moved to Akron and continued her career as the executive's Administrative Assistant. After their long-time business relationship of 50+ years, Jean decided to put away her steno pad and retire.
She loved putting together jigsaw puzzles, but her real love was sports. She was a big-time fan of the Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers, never missing a televised game. She was a member of St. Hilary Catholic Church in Fairlawn, was guided in life by her strong religious beliefs, and treated everyone with a Christ-like love that impacted the lives of so many people whose paths she crossed.
Her quick wit and sense of humor were unmatched. She, however, was not known for her cooking or baking skills, but loved cookies, ice cream, and M&M's. With her mischievous spirit, she was always someone you could count on to be your "partner in crime".
She is preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn (Yaeger) and Walter J. Brooks. She is survived by long-time friend and partner of nearly 40 years, Judi Roman; the Cianciolo family (Georgia and the Carolinas); her "Forever Family" (Ohio), Larry and Lianne Roman, Rick and Nicole Hoover, Kevin and Dana Roman, great nieces and great nephews: Kyle, Kiley, Nolan, Madeline, Megan, and Nathan; the Gregg family (California); the Kuhn family (Ohio); and many friends she welcomed as family.
Cremation has taken place, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, at St. Hilary Catholic Church. Burial of Ashes at All Saints Cemetery, Northfield Ohio, will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of Life Service will be held at a time more appropriate for social gatherings.
