A Bedford resident for most of his life, Jay Spencer died at his home in Pound Ridge.
Born in New York City he moved to Bedford at age 6. He attended Bedford Village Elementary, Fox Lane Middle School and the Harvey School where he graduated as the recipient of the Headmaster's Award, captain of the rugby team and winner of the talent show for his inspired piano playing.
Jay Spencer performed in many regional theater productions and was accorded professional recognition for his composing at an early age, before attending Berklee College of Music. He was defined by his gentle ways, his kindness and humor and known for his spiritual awareness.
He was a parishioner at both St. Matthew's Church in Bedford and the Antioch Baptist Church in Bedford Hills. Jay Spencer loved working at, Fable, a small local farm.
