Did you know Jay J? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
Jay, of Lynnwood, grew up in North Seattle, attending St. Benedict Elementary School, and graduating from Blanchet High School in 1968. He worked for many years for Washington Natural Gas, and retired from PSE.
Jay was a much loved husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for teasing everyone, always with heart and goodwill.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Racheal Lehnert, his sister Mary Louise (Merle) Carlson, and his brother Bob (Gloria) Lehnert.
He leaves behind his brother Jim (Joana) Lehnert, his wife Martha, his son Alex Lehnert, his daughter and son-in-law Stella and Cody Cook, his beloved granddaughters Jessie May and Addison who are really missing read-aloud and naptime with their grandpa, and many extended family and friends.
Jay loved hydroplanes from when he was a boy, and as an adult spent many Seafair weekends volunteering on the Pit Tours crew. He also became involved in restoring some of the old hydroplanes brought back to life at the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum in Kent.
There will be an informal Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 21, from 2-5 at the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum, 5917 S. 196th St, Kent.
No flowers please, but donations to the museum are gratefully accepted.
