Jason Michael Knapp, age 49, was born to Dale H. Knapp and Linda J. (Majeski) Knapp in Mount Vernon, Washington, on May 18, 1974, and passed away on January 25, 2024, in Kalispell, Montana, with his family by his side after a difficult battle with complications of diabetes and end stage renal disease.
Jason grew up in Burlington, graduating from Burlington-Edison High School in 1992. While growing up he had fun playing Little League baseball, eventually coaching and umpiring Little League games and a Mount Vernon kids football team. He also enjoyed racing radio controlled cars against grown men, and winning, Saturday night racing at Skagit Speedway, playing drums in the high school band, and other activities with his many friends. He continued to closely follow sports, especially the WSU Cougars, Montana Grizzlies, Seattle Seahawks, the Mariners and all forms of auto racing.
After high school, he moved to Bothell where he met and married Erica Rickert on May 23, 2000. He dedicated his life to Jehovah in December 2001 and will be greatly missed by those in his congregation. They moved to Erica's hometown of Kallspell, Montana, in 2003, where they continued to live until his death. They eagerly welcomed their son Conner into their family in September 2004, and daughter Cora in December 2010. Jason was a dedicated family man, and really enjoyed being with his family, and he fought hard to be there for his family until his death.
Jason is survived by his wife, Erica; son, Conner, and daughter Cora; his in-laws, David and Loreen Rickert; Erica's brothers Jonathan and Andrew and sister Emily and their families. He is also survived by his mother, Linda Knapp-Strobel; sister Jennifer Knapp Chandler and her husband Jason, and their children Ashley, Weylin and Elizabeth Chandler, and Liz's partner Nick Temple; Aunt Ruby Knapp, Uncle and Aunt Dennis and Karen Knapp, Uncle and Aunt Ron and Judy Knapp, Aunt Janet Juroch; cousins Alan, Todd, and Jeff Knapp and their families. He was predeceased by his father, Dale H. Knapp; grandparents, Joseph and Roberta Majeski, and Hiram and Helen Knapp; and cousin Andy Knapp.
A memorial was held in Kalispell on February 3rd. A family memorial will be held in Burlington, Washington, at a later date.
