Jarrelyn Legg Pentz, 88, a former resident of Denton, MD, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2021.
Born in Stevensville, MD, and later moving with her family to Denton, MD, Judy graduated from Caroline High School, and received her B.S. degree from what was then Madison College in 1953. She taught business classes at Havre de Grace High School before marrying her high school sweetheart in 1954. After raising her family, Judy resumed teaching business classes, at Sts. Peter and Paul High School in Easton, MD. She and her husband retired in the mid 1980's and spent the winters at their home in Key Largo, FL, while the summers were spent enjoying their home on the Choptank River in Denton, and traveling the continental United States and Canada in their motor home. Judy's greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Judy is survived by her husband of 66 years, Mervin Pentz Jr., of Virginia Beach, VA and their children; Melinda Hammaker and husband Jeff of Virginia Beach; Sonny Pentz of Virginia Beach; and Marianne Doyle and husband Jason of Boca Raton, FL. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Amy Marshall (John), Jeffrey Hammaker Jr. (Amberlee), Katharine Suslik (Joseph), Natalee Pentz, and Makenna Doyle, as well as four great grandchildren with another due in May 2021.
The family would like to thank The Memory Center in Virginia Beach for the wonderful care, compassion and love shown to Judy over the last four years, especially during this final year when the family was unable to visit due to COVID restrictions.
Judy will be laid to rest with a private family service in Chestertown, MD. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
