Janis Rae Kearns, 69, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021. Jan was born in Boardman, Ohio to the late William and Dolores (Snyder) Wynn on April 20, 1952. Jan was a graduate of Ohio University where she received her Bachelor's degree. She played tennis and swam on the Bobcat Girls Swim Team while attending college and also assisted the Canadian Olympic Team as a guide in Munich during the 1972 Olympic Summer Games. On February 10, 1979, Jan wed Dan Kearns and together they celebrated 42 years of marriage. She was an advertising executive at the Lexington Herald Leader until her retirement. Jan was very active with a love of not only swimming and tennis, but also running. She was ever the optimist and full of positive energy and a light in her family's lives. Jan was a huge supporter of her family including her grandchildren as she watched them grow and succeed. Most of all, she was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed, but will forever live in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Dan Kearns; son, Austin and his wife, Abby Kearns; grandsons, Aubrey, Brady, and Cooper Kearns, and her beloved dog, Roscoe. In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her uncle, Fred Snyder. A memorial gathering to celebrate Jan's life was held Friday, September 3rd at Milward - Southland located at 391 Southland Drive.
