Janie Broome / Gatlin

Janie Broome passed away on the morning of July 26, 2021.
She was born on January 16, 1953 to the late Leroy Wainwright Broome and Sarah Gurley Broome in Charleston, SC.
Janie is survived by: her partner of 20 years C.A. Gatlin and her brother Jerry Broome of York, PA.
Janie retired from the VFW, Mt. Pleasant, SC as Office Manager. She had many talents, such as "Substitute Teacher", flower arrangements, carving flowers out of Hickory and cooking. She was active with International Shrine Hillbillies and a member of the Hillbilly Mamas with the Omar Hillbilly Shrine Unit #82. Janie made the best "Apple Pie" in the Southeast and donated to the Omar's children's fund.
A visitation will be held August 3, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funerals & Cremation, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations can be made to Hillbilly Clan #82's Transportation Fund at Omar Shrine Center, Mt. Pleasant, SC.
