Janice Marie (Ross) Pitts, 88 of Ripley, passed away February 8, 2022 at Ravenswood Care Center.
She was born April 26, 1933 in New Milton (Porto Rico), Doddridge County, WV, daughter of the late Clifford and Captilla Gregg Ross. She was a homemaker and former owner of the Ripley Department Store. Janice helped with Ripley High Band Boosters and was a member of the Moose Lodge. Janice was a member of the Jackson County Democratic Committee and was elected to the State Democratic Committee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Pitts; a son, Johnny Pitts; a daughter Connie Painter; son-in-law Rod Hudson; grandson, Erick Hudson; great granddaughter Kathryn Marie Buchannon; great-great granddaughter, Paiton Jackson and a sister, Carol Sue Bennett.
She is survived by her children Debbie Pitts, Bev Hudson, Jim (Leah) Pitts, Joe (Cathy) Pitts and Dreama (Greg) Pursley; daughter-in-law Karen Pitts; son-in-law Richard Painter; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and her loving dog, Daisy.
Funeral Service will be 3pm Sunday, February 13, 2022 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Ed Austin officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, WV. Friends may call from 1 to 3 pm at the funreal home.
