Janice Nix, 62, Indianapolis IN, passed October, 31,2022 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 28, 1960, to Raymond and Marianna (Raney) Hyatt who preceded her in death.
Janice is survived by her husband Bruce, her daughters Amber (Rob) Hubbard and Erica (Nate) Croteau as well as sons Jordan Nix and Jared (Nickie) Nix. Janice loved her time with her grandchildren; Carter, Alexis, Noah, Ethan and Adelyn. She was often heard telling stories of their acomplishments and adventures to anyone that would listen. Janice also leaves behind her "ten pounds of wonderful", Lucky, who was her constant companion the last years of her life. Janice was an only child, but will be deeply missed by her "adopted sisters", Amy and Melissa.
Janice was a lifelong resident of Indiana. She graduated Greenwood High School in 1979 and through the years would fondly remember her time as part of the Irish Guard whenever hearing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", from the Marching Band's performance at the 1976 State Fair. Anyone who has driven through Greenwood knows the significance of the first big Marching Woodmen win located on the sign. Janice worked for the City of Greenwood in the Planning Department for 39 years. She worked for the city of Whiteland as well as Johnson County accessors office after that. Janice was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years and could be seen often at the Greenwood Village during her lunch hour completing her route.
Janice enjoyed riding their motorcycle with Bruce as well as boating and jet skiing over the years. She also enjoyed reading romance novels in her spare time. She was known to make beef & noodles as well as "good dessert" to the delight of her children. She responded by rolling her eyes and heading to the kitchen to make a list every time Bruce would get one of his friends to ask her for oatmeal raisin cookies in anticipation he got a batch too. As her children grew, she attended every theater performance, countless softball tournaments, quite a few baseball games, many swimming meets and several Jeep shows.
Janice also had a passion for interior design. Her home was a constant show piece to her always changing vision. When visiting her, it was not uncommon to have a Hallmark movie on. Janice was known to map out the "Plan" for Black Friday shopping in great detail. Her family well aware it would be executed!
