Help us celebrate Janett! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Janett.
Janett M. Baker was born January 22, 1942 in Harris County, Ga. After a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, December 18, 2020.
She is survived by her husband, Thom Baker, her children, Dwayne (Lori) and Eric (Jennifer) Smith, Wendy (Chad) Zepeda and Susan (Shan)Daffron and 6 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Jerry (Wanda) and Harrell (Ann)Moye and her very special cousins, Gloria Garner and Nancy Garner.
A graduate of Sandersville High School, GA, Class of 1960, Jan went on to further her studies at Georgia Baptist School of Nursing where she became a registered nurse. She then went on to work for Dr. Charles Johnson at his private practice for 17 years.
Wanting to explore other avenues, she owned a dress shop in Conyers, Ga as well as a short but fruitful career in insurance. Realizing her true calling, she returned to nursing and took a position with a psychiatric hospital in Ft Oglethorpe, Ga, becoming head nurse until finishing her nursing career.
Throughout her life, Jan was extremely artistically inclined in many fields, enjoyed gardening, and was a member of The Red Hat Society. She was also a founding member of the Telfair Garden Club and owned and operated Telfair Gardens in Burke County, Ga, where she lived for the remainder of her years.
Jan will be cremated and a celebration of life will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to further the research in fighting to find a cure for Alzheimer's Disease.
