Shortly thereafter, Janet's family moved to San Angelo where she attended elementary school through high school. Janet met Marvin Tumlinson in high school. After graduation, she attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas and Marvin served in the United States Air Force. They married in 1945. Janet worked at Singer Sewing Machine Company. She and Marvin had two children. Janet was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress.
