Janet Lillian Stokes, 85, of Penacook, NH went home to be with her Savior on March 19, 2021 in Deerfield, NH.
She was born in Dedham, MA to Evelyn and Leon J. Comeau Sr., and graduated from Dedham High School in 1953. Janet met her husband, Norton Stokes, at Baptist Bible Seminary, and they were married on June 5, 1957.
Janet was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she taught children's Sunday School and Junior Church for over three decades. She also sang in the choir and the Ladies' Ensemble for many years. Janet enjoyed making counted cross stitched samplers for weddings and births, and her grandchildren and great - grandchildren were gifted with quilts and samplers she embroidered.
Affectionately called "Jan" by her husband of 63 years, Norton; "Mom" by her five children, Donn Stokes of Kalamazoo MI, Sandra Moon of Culpeper VA, Susan Cappucci of Penacook NH, Sara Harrison of Pembroke NH, and Janelle Michalek of Sterling Heights MI, "Grammy" by her 13 grandchildren; and "Great Grammy" by her 12 great-grandchildren. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. She also leaves behind her brother, David Comeau of Plymouth MA.
Calling Hours will be Monday, March 29, 2021 at 10am, with the service starting at 11am at Trinity Baptist Church, 80 Clinton St, Concord NH 03301. Burial will follow immediately at Woodlawn Cemetery, Penacook NH.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bennett Funeral Home of Concord NH.
