Janet Carol Stocksdale, 85, went to be with the Lord, December 4th, 2021, in Ravenswood, WV. She was born in Greenup, KY on May 14th, 1936, the daughter of the late Earnest and Carrie (Bradley) Bailey. She was the valedictorian, and homecoming queen of the Newton (Pleasant Hill, OH) High School class of 1954 and was also a member the marching band. Ms. Stocksdale would go on to earn a Bachelor's degree in music education from Manchester University, and a Master's degree in the same discipline, from Ball State University. She taught music for many years in several different school districts including Ansonia, Pickerington, and Randolph Eastern in Union City, IN. She also gave private voice lessons to many local students when she resided near Union City, OH. Ms. Stocksdale is also a former member of the gospel group, the Stocksdale Trio, which included her sisters-in-law Pat and Connie Stocksdale. Left to cherish her memory are her son Brent (Diana) Stocksdale of Anderson, IN, daughter Elizabeth (Norm) Ferland of Ravenswood WV, grandchildren Adam, and Ryan Stocksdale, both of Ft. Wayne, IN, Abby Stocksdale of Delphos, OH, and Jake Ferland of Ravenswood, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Ray and Marvin Bailey. For the last 19 years of her life she enjoyed the loyal companionship of her beloved feline, Bootsie. Donations in her memory can be made to the Jackson County Animal Shelter in Cottageville, WV.
