Help us celebrate Janet! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Janet.
Our precious mother, Janet M. Schweiger of St. Petersburg, Fl. went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, February 11, 2021. She was welcomed by her late parents, Lester and Elsie Merriman in May of 1925 in Beaver Falls, Pa. Janet graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1943. Following graduation, she worked as an operator at Bell Telephone. Janet married her high school sweetheart, Anthony J Schweiger, Jr. (Tony) in August of 1949. The newlyweds resided in Beaver Falls until Tony graduated from dental school. They relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1954. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Cheryl Pike, Scott Pike, Anita Rybarczyk, Bill Rybarczyk, Toni Matthews, Anthony J Schweiger III (Ty) and Lori Schweiger. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Janet is predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, who passed in August of 2019.
Janet was a strong, brilliant and beautiful woman. Her life revolved around her family and her faith. She raised her busy family with great love, creating the best apple strudel and pies ever made. Once the children had left the family home, Janet volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels and as a helper at St. Anthony's Hospital. When her husband's dental practice needed an office manager, she "temporarily" filled the position for 17 years until they retired. Janet had a zest for life few could match. She had a way of making even the mundane an adventure.
Services for Janet will be held at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle, 5815 5th Ave N, St. Petersburg, Fl
