Janet C. Pearson (Hanson) born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 15, 1934, died on August 7, 2023, in Port St. Lucie, Florida, at the age of 88. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and their spouses. She was the matriarch of a large family who loved her deeply.
Janet was born a miracle baby weighing only three pounds and was one of the first babies to survive a premature birth thanks to incubators. She was raised on the South Side of Chicago by her parents Al and Amy Hanson with her two sisters, Joan and Doris, and her two brothers, Jimmy and Mike. She married Dale Pearson (1932-2001) in 1955 and was the loving mother of four children, Richard Alan Pearson (Erma), Norman Dale Pearson (Grace), Carol Ann Graham (Neil), and Warren Glen Pearson (Kilree). She raised her family in the suburbs of Chicago, Louisville, and Pompano Beach. She and Dale enjoyed boating on the Ohio River, and the east coast of Florida where many great memories in her life occurred with her family. Janet graduated from nursing school at the age of 56 because she had a thirst for knowledge and found joy and satisfaction in helping others. Later in life she volunteered at Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale.
Janet was selfless in her devotion to her family and was always the focal point at family gatherings. She would do anything she could for her loved ones. She was kind and generous, always ready to listen, and very good at telling stories of her own, too. She enjoyed sharing the family's history and loved to tell stories of her childhood and meeting her husband Dale at a Walgreens soda fountain.
She is the beloved grandmother of 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and she was proud of each of them.
Services will be held at Aycock Funeral Home at Tradition, 12571 Traditions Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL 34987 on Thursday August 10, from 4pm-8pm. A graveside service will be held in New Lenox, Illinois, at Maplewood Cemetery tentatively scheduled for Sunday August 13, where Janet will be laid to rest alongside her loving husband Dale.
She will live on lovingly in our hearts always and forever.
