Janet Esther Margraf McCormick, age 84, of Wild Rose, WI, and Mesa, AZ, died December 25, 2024.
There will be a gathering at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at Annunciation Cemetery in Randolph at a later date.
Janet was born in the town of Newville on November 6, 1940, the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy (Kottwitz) Steinhorst. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1957 and married George Pfeffer, Sr. Janet was a pioneer joining the work force in 1965 at Chrysler Corp and later taking her skills and knowledge to John Deere where she worked for 30 years until her retirement in February of 2001. For many years she was the secretary of various bowling leagues and volunteered her bartending skills for the Knights of Columbus in downtown Beaver Dam. She also ran the Little Silver Lake Campground for several years, owned her own sewing business and later expanded to an embroidery business doing shirts for sport league(s), specifically bowling.
Later in her life she enjoyed going to casinos and was quite successful at the slots and Bingo. She enjoyed board games, bowling, camping, canning, crocheting, Euchre, fishing, puzzles, country music and her computer games.
Surviving her are 4 siblings: Gilbert (Bertie Lou) Steinhorst, Roger (Ruth) Steinhorst, Diane Bittner, Stanley Steinhorst, and sister-in-law: Julie Steinhorst. 6 children with her first husband: Cindy Pfeffer-Olson, George Pfeffer Jr., Steven (Rhonda) Pfeffer, Jerome (Terri) Pfeffer, Dale (Amy) Pfeffer, and Jan Marie (Randy) Miller. One daughter from her marriage to Robert M. McCormick: Marlene (Robert) Scholfield, and 2 step-children Judith Ostberg and Christine McCormick. 4 step-children: Ray (Sue) Margraf, Betty (David) Reals, Steven Margraf and Jennifer (Elly) Rodriguez. Janet had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Janet was proceeded in death by her parents: Arthur and Dorothy, her brother Earl, son John, step-son Robert (Bobby), step-son Robert (Bob), grandchildren Jonathan, Hope and Kennedy Pfeffer, and her loving husbands: George, Robert and Raymond.
