Janet W. Kissinger Hajek , 88 May 7, 1933 - Sep 18, 2021 Janet W. Kissinger Hajek, 88, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Saturday September 18, 2021, at Robinwood Assisted Living, Hagerstown, MD. Born May 7, 1933, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Snyder) Williams and John Martin Williams. After her father's death in 1936, Janet grew up at the Milton Wright Orphanage in Chambersburg, PA, and in the home of her oldest sister. She graduated from Waynesboro High School and worked as a secretary for a local manufacturer. She later graduated from Hagerstown Business College in the early 1970s. Janet was married to the love of her life, M.Sgt. Gary Taylor Kissinger on December 23, 1955. She enjoyed being an Air Force wife, traveling to Germany, and several U.S. states with her husband until his early death in 1966. Janet was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed reading, golf, and time with family. She adored her grandchildren and had a tender heart for birds and animals. She is survived by her daughter Kathy Kissinger Bell and husband Robert M. Bell of Hagerstown, MD.; three granddaughters Emily Bell Garner and husband M. Edward Garner of Baltimore, MD, Jennifer A. Bell of NYC, and Laura E. Bell of Baltimore, MD; and three grandchildren, Charles, Martin, and Paige Garner. She was proceeded in death by her long-time companion, William C. Hamilton, her infant son, Gary Taylor Jr., her husband, M.Sgt. Gary T. Kissinger; three sisters, infant Rosalie, Mary Eileen McCarney, and Verda Geiser; and three brothers, infant George, John M. and Ralph Williams. A private service will be coordinated by the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD with the Rev. Patrick Ricker officiating.
