Janet Juliana Montilla, 65, of Manassas Park, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and those she loved in the early hours of December 21st, 2021. Her passing came just a few short months after being diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
Janet is survived by her children, Carla and Andr?s Cevallos; siblings, Eileen and Hiram Montilla; and two cats, Tito and Rocky. She was born in Puerto Rico on February 16, 1956, to Hiram and Nydia Montilla and moved to Washington DC in 1984 where she met Carlos Cevallos. They were married on April 27th, 1988 and had two children.
Janet loved spending time with her children, whether it was watching them play soccer, enjoying a football game, or cooking a meal for the holidays. She retired at the age of 64 after over 17 years of serving her community in Prince William County Schools. She loved chocolate, animals, and watching the Redskins and Packers with family and friends. Janet enjoyed expressing her artistic side through rock painting, coloring, scrapbooking, and baking. She loved to sight-see and had plans to travel the country for her retirement. She always supported local businesses as well as many animal sanctuaries and rescue organizations.
Those lucky enough to have met her were immediately taken in by her welcoming personality. The abundance of love she had for her family was also extended to her friends and their children. She was known affectionately by many as "Mom", "Momma", "Momma-Janet", and "Grandma-Janet".
