Janet Hicks

Janet Marie Hicks, age 74, of Waverly, Ohio, died Thursday August 7, 2025 at her residence. She was born January 19, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Leo Burton "Burt" Johnson and Avileen Ruth Bouts Johnson. She was united in marriage July 14, 1980 to her husband, Danny Leon Hicks, who preceded her in death December 2, 2022. Surviving are her children, Daniel (Jessica) Hicks of Greenfield, Ohio, Della Hicks of Waverly, Ohio, and Kell (Fiance` Beth Wilson) Hicks of Cincinnati, Ohio, her grandchildren, Denver Eugene (Fiance` Elizabeth Echard) Hicks II of Harrisville, West Virginia, Cynthia (Fiance` Patrick Bigelow) Hicks of Brockton, New York, Jayden Harris, Jamison Burney, Jaxon Burney, and Paden Francis, all of Greenfield, Ohio, two great-grandchildren, Meredith Hicks and Mallory Bigelow, one brother, Robert Johnson of Peebles, Ohio, one sister, Karen (Russ) Nickell of Beaver, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Denver Eugene Hicks

Janet had a giving soul and loved to feed others. No one ever went hungry in her home. Her passions included spending time studying with the Shepherd's Chapel religious broadcast, tending to her flowers, and listening to music, especially classic rock and bluegrass. Anyone who knew her well was aware of her love for Tim Horton's iced cappuccinos.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday August 16, 2025 at the South Webster Cemetery with Pastor Danny Wooten officiating. Burial will follow at the conclusion of services. Visiting hours will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service on Saturday at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home.
