Jane Parry, 98, passed away peacefully June 25, 2024, at Dove Health Care in Osseo, WI.
Jane was born on the Peasley Farm, January 29, 1926, to Donald and Jennie Peasley in Black River Falls, WI. She grew up helping with chores and appreciated many things about growing up on a dairy farm but knew that lifestyle wouldn't suit her long term. After graduating high school one year early, at the age of 17, Jane took the "400 Line" to Minneapolis, where she attended the Electronic Radio and Television Institute. Soon after, she received a war service appointment to train as a junior aircraft communicator with the Civil Aeronautics Administration in Atlanta, Georgia. From there, she transferred to Birmingham Army Airbase and then on to Memphis, TN, where she became a supervisor. Jane's career eventually brought her back to Minneapolis, where she met her 'Dearie,' John James Parry.
Jane and John married June 10, 1961 and made Minneapolis their home. They enjoyed visiting family in WI, spending summers at their cabin in Hatfield, traveling in RVs during the winter, and taking trips to Europe, Hawaii and Scandinavian countries.
An avid reader, Jane stayed well-informed of current events and kept close tabs on her favorite MN sports teams. 'Aunt Jane' always knew what was going on in the lives of all her nieces and nephews (great and great-great!) and treasured their frequent calls, letters and visits. She had a witty sense of humor, strong faith and was generous with her time and donations to charities. She joined a ladies' stock club in the 1960s and continued to watch the market and make trades well into her mid-90's.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Donald and Jennie (Gjerseth) Peasley; brother Tom and sister-in-law Rose (Neuhaus) Peasley. She is survived by her brother Peter and sister-in-law Carole (Gee) Peasley; and the many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
A celebration of life memorial service for Jane will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Bridge Church in Black River Falls. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery. Torgerson's Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
