Jane E. McKenney a long time resident of Westminster in Austin died on March 22, 2022. Jane E. McKenney was born to Julian and Esta Mae Smith Ensminger, on the family farm in Hendricks County, Indiana on May 22, 1924. She graduated from the Danville Indiana High School 1942. Jane married Charles R. McKenney September 23, 1944 in the St. Mary's Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, Indiana. They moved to Texas in 1946 to Corsicana, then to Garland in 1947,and to Midland Texas in 1964. Jane later moved to Westminster in Austin in 2008 to be near her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Westminister for the care and friendship they showed Jane during her stay.
Jane was active in community and school affairs. She was a member of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution since 1946, organizing Regent of the Col. George Mason Chapter of Garland, TX in April 1955, and member of the Lt. William Brewer Chapter of Midland, TX. She was awarded the outstanding Citizen of Garland TX in August 1955 for her work as co-chairman of the March of Dimes in 1954?the Polio Pioneers of the Salk vaccination against Polio.
Jane loved her family and they loved her. She greatly enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1995, and both sisters, Lois E. Etienne and Josephine E. McFerran.
She is survived by two sons Ernest McKenney and his wife Phyllis Warren of Austin TX, and Edward McKenney and wife Susan McKenney of Miami FL, Grandchildren Michael McKenney and wife Maegan McKenney of New Braunfels, TX and Katey McKenney of Austin TX, and great grandchildren Kimber Gardner, Weston Gardner, Davis Steadman, Audrey McKenney and Charlotte McKenney.

There will be a graveside service on April 9, 2022 at 9am at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas.
