Jane Leverage O'Hara, of Dover, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022, with her loving husband Bob, by her side at Kent General Hospital at age 79. Jane was raised in Queen Annes County, Maryland, and was the daughter of the late William Edwin Leverage and Gladys Roberta Leverage.
Upon graduating from Centreville High School in 1960, she received her BA in Education from Glenville State Teacher's College. Jane married Bob O'Hara in 2007 where they shared 14 years of blessed happiness. She and Bob enjoyed camping with their traveling camping friends and the love of nature.
Her generosity and concern for the wellbeing of others were Jane's most outstanding qualities. She began her teaching career in Kent County, DE nurturing and caring for the special needs of children in elementary school. Always a loving and selfless lady, Jane devoted 35 years teaching a Sunday School class for the cognitively challenged at Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover. In her early life, Jane worked at Camp Pecometh as a counselor for many summers. Her passion to help others found her involved with the Delaware Special Olympics programs for over 30 years. She worked for Delaware Family Court for 26 years until she retired in 2009.
Jane is survived by her husband Bob, sister Joy Ericson (John) Wilmington, Delaware and brother Ned Leverage (Jean) of Still Pond, Maryland, four nephews, Eric Ericson, Atlanta, GA, Taylor Leverage, Baltimore, MD, Tim and Greg Leverage, Cambridge MD; four nieces, Amy Curran, Sewickley, PA, Martha Killian, Rydal, PA, Logan Leverage of Columbia, SC and Valerie Jordan of Cambridge MD.
A Memorial Service/ Celebration of Life will be held at a later date
