Jane (Bresnahan) Haubrich, 90, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Havenwood Heritage Heights Retirement Community in Concord, NH. She was born on September 7, 1930, the only child of Roger W. and Bertha (Gourdeau) Bresnahan of Manchester, NH.
Jane grew up in Manchester, NH and was educated in the Manchester public schools, graduating from Manchester Central High School in 1948. She attended Mount Ida Junior College in Newton, MA for the next two years getting her Associate's Degree in 1950, after which she attended the University of New Hampshire where she met her future husband, F. William "Bill" Haubrich. After UNH, Jane became a stewardess and was assigned as an American Airlines stewardess (based in Boston).
Jane married the love of her life, Bill Haubrich, in 1952 on the CBS TV show, "Bride and Groom," after which she gave up her stewardess position and made her home at Sampson Air Force Base in New York with her husband. The couple had their first of three children in 1953 and Jane dedicated herself to be a stay-at-home mom for the next 18 years.
She returned to work in 1971 as a travel agent in Concord, a job she would embrace and excel at for the next 22 years. This was a dream job that offered Jane and occasionally her husband to travel extensively abroad. She worked first for the Rumford Travel Agency, then AAA Travel Agency for ten years, before becoming the office manager for first, Penny Pitou Travel, and finally Apollo Travel in downtown Concord where she retired from in 1993. Much of her success was based on the fact that she could book a complete itinerary for clients based on her first-hand experience of travel destinations all around the world.
Upon her retirement, Jane and her husband Bill split time between their home at Great East Lake in Wakefield, NH and their condo in Naples, FL. making them official "snowbirds." While in Florida, Jane was an avid bicycle rider, bridge player, and frustrated golfer, although she did get a hole in one. Back in NH, their lake house was weekly host to the entire family where she could be "Mom" and "Nana," her two favorite things to do.
Jane will be remembered most by her gracious smile, quick wit, and her perfect tan. She was an avid supporter of her kids and a kind, gentle, and elegant woman who struck a chord with everyone she met. She filled the lives of her family and many close friends with happiness, support, and unconditional love.
Jane is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bill Haubrich, Sr. She will be missed most by her "favorite child," a topic her children will continue to debate for years to come. Loved ones include; Bill Haubrich, Jr. and his wife Sherry of Concord, NH; Tom Haubrich and his wife Katherine of Bow, NH, and Jane Poitras and her husband Don of Pembroke, NH. She was the proud grandmother of Katie, Kristen, Jennifer, Billy, Beth, DJ, Bridget, and Tommy, and great-grandmother to eight girls and four boys.
Jane's family is so grateful to the staff at Havenwood Heritage Heights in Concord for the wonderful and respectable care shown to Jane, and their professional respect to her and her family.
In honor of Jane's life, Memorial Visiting Hours will be held at Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
