Jane H. Greer, 84, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023 at The Maples in Honea Path, South Carolina.
Jane was born in Honea Path on August 20, 1938 to the late William Henry Harvey and Nellie Louise Duncan Harvey. She attended Honea Path public schools and was named the first female president of the student body her senior year. She was a graduate of the Executive Program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Throughout her adult life, Jane was admired as a trailblazer for women in business. Her commitment to advancing the involvement of women in the corporate board room led to her being featured in the cover story for Textile Industries magazine, "The Textile Woman-An Expanding Role". Her honors also included selection as Career Woman of the Year by the South Carolina Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, recipient of the Tribute to Women in International Business award, appointment as a director of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturer's Association and in 2007 received the Greenville, South Carolina Women Making History award.
Her community service spanned across numerous areas, including the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce's executive committee, the Greenville County Hospital System Foundation, Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, South Carolina Board of Education Resources Foundation, Clemson University Board of Visitors, Urban League of the Upstate, United Way of Greenville County, Greater Greenville Forum and the Downtown Business Association.
Jane is survived by her sisters Anne H. Donlon (Jim) of Townville, Suzie H. McGowan (Joe) of Laurens; nieces Cathy H. Hanks (Ronnie) of Hardeeville, Janna Brown (Donnie) of Newberry, Sarita Harvey of Lima Peru; nephews Jamie Simpson (Beth) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Jay O'Dell (Jessie) of Summerville.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her brother, William Fred Harvey (Elena).
The family would like to thank the staff of The Maples for the wonderful care they provided Jane and the love they showed her.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Her family will be at their respective homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
