Janan Daffron Durban, 72, a resident of Indianapolis, surrounded by her loved ones, passed away in New SmyrnaBeach, Florida on March 20, 2022. Janan was born April 3, 1949 to the late Julia and Thomas Daffron inMishawaka, Indiana. Janan is survived by her children Jason (Christy) Durban, Jenna (Mike)Brunsman and brother Tommy (Marianne) Daffron; as well as six grandchildren: Alyson, Ansley, Aubrey, Isabella, Sydney, and Sloane. She waspreceded in death by her sister, Jodie Cocquyt.
Janan was a very caring, loyal, kind, and compassionate mother, grandmother, and friend. She wasgenerous and giving and loved spending time with her family and friends. Her sense of humor wasalways present and on-point. She loved to read murder mysteries and had a great passion fordecorating which she enjoyed sharing with her friends. She loved going to art festivals, shopping for artd?cor for her home. She spent many enjoyable hours decorating her new home and watching andlistening to all the wildlife walk through the woods outside her windows. In the winter she lovedspending time at her condo in Florida where she could enjoy the ocean, soak up the sunshine, and read.In Indy she loved gathering with her friends and colleagues from the State House for dinners and events.Most of all she loved being a grandmother; she delighted in shopping for toys and clothes for the girls;they called her Nina Nan (or Nene). She adored playing dress-up and putting on make-up with them andthey adored her as well.
A graduate of Mishawaka High School, she began her career at Diltz Record Store during high school.She became a secretary at Wheelabrator Corporation and then worked in the personnel and labordepartment at C.G. Conn. She also worked for a number of years as a teacher's aide at Lincoln ElementarySchool; the 25 years she gave working as a leadership assistant for the Caucus Chairman at the House ofRepresentatives brought her the greatest satisfaction.
A Celebration of Life service will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at G.H. HerrmannGreenwood Funeral Home at 1605 South State Road 135. Visitation will be from 1:30 until the time ofservice.
