Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel
Jana Marie (Traffie) Koistinen, age 47, of Hayti, SD, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020, at First Apostolic Lutheran Church, rural Lake Norden, SD. Dan Seppanen and Matt Somero will officiate.
Visitation will also be at the church on Sunday, June 7th from 4-6 p.m.
Burial will be at Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her sons: Aaron Koistinen, Micah Koistinen, Mark Koistinen, Jared Koistinen, Paul Koistinen, Amos Koistinen and David Koistinen.
Jana spent her life serving her family and Christian friends and loved her Savior most of all. Her hope was that everyone would know Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Jana loved spending time outdoors, gardening, taking walks and singing.
Jana is survived by her parents, Jack and Arlene Traffie of LaCenter, WA; her husband, Joel of Hayti, SD; her children: Aaron Koistinen of Ft. Bragg, NC, Micah Koistinen of Camp Pendleton, CA, Mark, Jared, Beth, Paul, Aija, Amos, David, Lis-Marie and Vanessa, all of Hayti, SD; her siblings, Brian (Maija) Traffie of LaCenter, WA, Anna (Brian) Fay of Redding, CA, Karla (Michael) Matson of La Center, WA, Stephen (Mari) Traffie of New Ipswich, NH, Maria (Tony) Seppala of Taylors, SC, Nathan (Michelle) Traffie of Woodland, WA, Rebecca (Herb) Hoard of Erwin, SD, Joel (Sarah) Traffie of Battle Ground, WA, Anita (Jason) Kandoll of Kelso, WA, Jonathan Traffie of Fargher Lake, WA, Benjamin (Ingrid) Traffie of Bryant, SD, Luke Traffie of La Center, WA, Seth (Sara) Traffie of Sheridan, WY, Daryl (Jaclyn) of New Ipswich, NH, Rosa (Jordan) Fraki of Ottertail, MN and Quentin Traffie of Bryant, SD; her in-laws, Hope Koistinen of Woodland, WA, Tom Koistinen of New Ipswich, NH, Joy Koistinen of Vancouver, WA, Jane (Dale) Seppanen of Waubay, SD, Ellen Koistinen of Battle Ground, WA, Dora (Gordon) Coponen of Campobello, SC, Luke Koistinen of Woodland, WA, Sharon Koistinen of Vancouver, WA, John Koistinen of Kennewick, WA and Sue (Walter) Seppala of Hazel, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jana was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harry and Evelyn Warnke; her paternal grandparents, Isaac and Jenny Traffie; her niece, Aaliyah Fraki; her nephew, Keaton Traffie; and her in-laws, Harold and Phyllis Koistinen.
