age 68 of Hudson passed away peacefully Monday, October 26, 2020. She is preceded in death by her father, Paul Benton Dishong. Jan is survived by her beloved husband, James R. Ahern, Sr.; three loving children, Brittny Lynn (Scott) Strubbe, James Richard (Julie) Ahern, Jr. and Jessica Lynn Ahern; six dear grandchildren, Ireland Kathleen Strubbe, Thomas James "TJ" Strubbe, Emily Nicole Ahern, Ashley Elizabeth Ahern, Katherine Claire Ahern and Samantha James Ahern, three siblings, Gary (Dorothy) Dishong, Paula Jean (Joe) Clark and Lonnie Dee (Jim) Gibson and her dear mother, Amy (nee Wyres) Dishong Cauffield. Jan's career was as a skilled orthodontic technician. Jan was a member of the St. Mary's Church Women's Club and Lake Forest Country Club. She loved watercolor painting and won awards for her artwork that still hang in various locations. She enjoyed traveling, especially to visit her children and grandchildren. She was a creative crafter and started a small craft business. She demonstrated flexibility during several family moves and took over all the logistics for her family with great patience and organization. Jan is famous for a wonderful smile, with a love for laughing and a beautiful, yet devious sense of humor. She will always be remembered as a dedicated, caring and loving mother, daughter, sister, gramma, meemaw and wife. Heaven has gained a beautiful and loving soul.
Due to the continued Covid situation, the family feels that it is best, at this time, to have a family only private service for Jan. A graveside service at St. Mary Cemetery with an outdoor celebration of life to follow will be held in the spring of 2021.
