James Charles Wood
It is with complete and utter sadness that the family of James Charles Wood announce his passing after a brief hospitalization in Port Charlotte, Florida. Jim, who was a longtime resident of North Attleboro passed away at the age of 67 on March 22nd, 2021 at the Arcadia Hospice House in Arcadia, Florida. Born July 15th, 1953 in Tampa Florida, he was the son of the late Joseph Thomas and Margaret Mary Wood of Quincy, Ma.
Jim grew up in Quincy, Ma and was a graduate from North Quincy High School. Throughout the years, he became a dedicated political advocate for the town of North Attleboro with highlighted accomplishments in serving on the Board of Selectmen, the Representative Town Meeting Committee, and Board of Trustees for the Richards Memorial Library for nearly 15 years. Jim loved aviation as he was striving to earn his pilot's license in his later years. Jim’s love for music was evident throughout his entire life as he frequently performed at local restaurant venues playing songs by The Doors, The Who, and The Beatles on his acoustic and bass guitar. Jim’s love for religion and music came together when he joined the Music Ministry at St. Martha's Parish in Plainville, MA where he played every Sunday for many years. Most importantly, Jim was a dedicated husband and father to his family who are devastated by the loss of his passing and will continue to hold memories of him so very dear to their hearts.
Jim will be forever missed by his son, Derek D. Wood of Providence, RI, his daughter and her husband, Ashleigh and Jarrod Hebert of Plainville, MA, his three grandsons Tyler, Corey, and Kyle as well as his former wife of 30 years, Patricia A. Dinan of North Attleboro, MA. Jim also leaves behind his loving sister and her husband, Janet and Ted Dees of Palm Harbor, Florida and brother and wife, John and Chris Wood of Peabody, MA. He will be forever missed and remembered by his 14 nieces and nephews, their families, and countless friends he has connected with along his lifelong journey.
Family and friends are graciously invited to attend a memorial service for Jim Wood which will be held at St. Martha’s Church located at 227 South Street in Plainville, Ma 02762 on Saturday, June 5th at 11am. The family also encourages all to attend a bereavement gathering following his service inside the North Attleboro Elks located at 52 Bulfinch Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
