James Tyson

James McArthur Tyson was born April 24, 1942, in Louisiana. He moved to Texas in 1962 where he met his wife, Betty. They lived in Mesquite, where he worked as a construction plumber/supervisor. He then moved to Canton in 1984, where he spent the rest of his life. He retired in 2005 and enjoyed the country life, which included working his cows and sitting on the front porch watching hummingbirds, wild birds, and deer.

James passed away at the age of 82 on Thursday, April 17, 2025. He was preceded in death by his son, James Martin Tyson, his parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Betty Tyson of Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Shirel Tyson and Jeff Kyser of Wills Point; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Kellyville, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
