James "Jim" Ellis Stuber, 77, Logansport, passed away Monday, June 6, 2022, at the Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
Born August 9, 1944, in Logansport, he was the only child of the late Jack and Marjorie (Smith) Stuber.
Jim was a high school graduate of South Caston High School and also attended Indiana State University, where he studied Business and Marine Biology.
For sixteen years, Jim owned and operated Wedge's Liquor Store. He had worked in sales all of his life and many people knew he from his career at E-Z Pawn.
A witty and laid-back man, Jim had a great sense of humor and took whatever life handed him in stride. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and was an avid follower of news, current events and politics. Jim enjoyed a good game of poker, a great debate, and fine glass of cognac. He loved animals, especially cats - which included his most recent feline, Callie, who he loved dearly.
As a double amputee the past ten years, Jim had a strong will to live independently. His strength, courage, and perseverance were amazing. Jim appreciated the friends, neighbors and Meals on Wheels, Area 5, and Home Health volunteers who helped him continue to live at home.
Surviving are his step-daughter, Wendy (Greg) Keller and their family, of Carmel; and his daughter and son, Krista Stuber, of Lafayette, and James (Jimmy) Stuber, of Greenwood, along with their families. Jim is also survived by several biological family members in Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving companion of 30 years, MaraLynn Petty.
A Funeral Service celebrating Jim's life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dawn Fisher officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
