James Marion "Worm" Snipes, 83 of the Oak Hill Baptist Church Community in Lancaster, SC peacefully left this world to go to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Mr. Snipes is the son of the late Ernest Melvin and Ethel Williams Snipes of Lancaster, SC. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Brenda Funderburk Snipes and a brother, Melvin Pete Snipes. Affectionately known as Jimmy, he is a veteran of the Unites States Army, a Mason of 45 years and a Shriner of 25 years. He and his wife, Brenda, were owners and operators of Tradesville Grocery for 35 years. The services provided as a store owner was a great asset to this community. He was known for his famous sausage biscuits and often made upwards of 70 a day during hunting season. The store was often filled with hunters, retirees and men that gathered for hot coffee, breakfast, conversations, laughter and for the solving of all the world's problems. Jimmy was passionate about many things and a well-manicured lawn was one of his priorities. He loved and appreciated every compliment he received on his beautiful yard. He was a proud supporter of many causes and often penned letters of support for county and community leaders. He was most proud of his collection of antiques, especially his vintage store items and could often be found giving "tours" of his old store and other buildings, sharing details and history of his collectibles. He is survived by his loving daughter, Tracey Purser and her husband, Bobby of Lancaster, SC; brothers, Charles "Dimp" Snipes and his wife, Jackie of Lancaster, SC, Carl Landon Snipes and his wife, Judy of Mt. Holly, NC and Donnie Snipes and his wife, Robbi of Lancaster, SC; sister, Jo Ann Snipes of Lancaster, SC; grandson, Robert Purser and his wife Ashley of Lancaster, SC; great granddaughter, Blythe Purser of Lancaster, SC; numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Mary Faile Miller of Lancaster, SC. Mr. Jimmy was loved and cared for by his nurse with Hospice, Spencer Blackmon and Hearts and Hands Caregivers, Norma Jean Coleman, Amy Hicks, Monica Hargett, Andrea Watts, Jeannie Teal and Nicole Crouch. He loved them all and enjoyed their company, conversations and all the laughs they shared. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Oak Hill Baptist Church. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Henson and Rev. Brad Threatt officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hearts and Hands, C/O Amy Hicks, 1269 Lester Hicks Circle, Pageland, SC 29728.
