Mr. James L. Smith Jr.

Mr. James "Jimmy" Smith, Jr. 81, of Albany, died on Monday, December 4, 2023, at his residence. The memorial service was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Banks Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Buddy Fitzgerald and Mr. Bill Lyons officiated.

Mr. Smith was born on October 16, 1942 in Albany, Georgia, to the late James Lucious Smith, Sr. and Eudine Hamm Smith. He had lived in Albany all of his life and was employed with Albany Typewriter exchange, where he worked in the sales and service department. Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing, golfing, bird hunting, sports, and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves Fan. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Ginger Sledge (Gerald) of Worth County, and James Lance Smith (Michelle) of Brinson, Georgia; granddaughter, Leah Marie Smith; siblings, Ronald Smith (Carolyn) of Newnan, Georgia, Judy Lyons (Bill) of Valdosta, Carol Fitzgerald (Buddy) of Cartersville, Georgia, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Thompson Smith on July 7, 2019, and a grandchild, Jamie Lee Smith.
