MANNING - James Burris Skipper, 79, husband of Betty Strickland Skipper, died Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Born July 11, 1941, in Marion, he was a son of the late Murray Thomas Skipper and the late Emma Skipper Skipper. He attended Santee Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of Manning; two daughters, Cindy Helton (John) of Manning and Sara Hanna (Darrell) of Germany; four grandchildren, J. Richard Helton III (Emma) of Alexandria, VA, D. Renee Hanna of Charleston, Rachel D. Fitzgerald (Josh) of Canal Winchester, OH and James B. Helton (Kelsie) of Mt. Pleasant; nine great grandchildren, Adrianna, Jake, Nicholas, Joshua, Haley, Hanna, Leah, Heather and Hayes; a sister, Edna Bell Martin of Aynor; and special friend and brother-in-law, Randy Strickland of Ladson.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2021, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Revs. Eugene Mosier and Jack Todd officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home.
A private burial will be held at Carolina Memorial Gardens in North Charleston.
