James M. Sisson Jr, 82, of Murrells Inlet SC, went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2021. He was born on August 19, 1938 to James M. and Helen D. Sisson in Claymont, Delaware.
Jim, a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, is survived by his wife of 58 years, Thelma R.; daughters Kimberly (Craig) Marshall, Beth Ann (Mark) Meschter; grandchildren Nathan, Abigail (Jason), Samuel, JC, and Mickey; and brother Thomas (Alicia) Sisson. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Joseph D. and Donald A. Sisson.
God, his wife, his family, and his friends were the things he held dearly. Jim never met a stranger and was always willing to give a hand to someone in need. He was a Godly man and one of integrity. He worked at DuPont Chestnut Run for 35 years and at Advanced Printing Products for 8 years before retiring. He served in the United States Army 1959-1961.
Jim enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching sports. He refereed basketball for 20 years and coached girl's softball for 7 years. He was active in his church and his community. He served as an Elder, Sunday school superintendent, choir member, and Sunday school teacher. He was also very active in Lions Club, the Food Bank, Board of Directors for Chesterfield County Hospice, and United Way.
A Celebration of Life was held Friday, July 23, 2021, 2pm at First Baptist Church Murrells Inlet, 3891 Highway 17 Bypass, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 with Scott Stancil will be officiating.
Burial will be at the Bethany Cemetery in Hall, West Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Murrells Inlet at the address listed above.
