James (Jim) L. Scrivnor, Age 89, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Sacred Ground Hospice House in Knoxville, TN. He was born on November 26, 1932 in Lutherville, Maryland, to the late Howard and Elva (Storm) Scrivnor. He retired after 41 years with Lafarge Concrete (formerly Harry T. Campbell Concrete) as a tax accountant. He also had his own tax accounting business, Scrivnors Accounting, and maintained a large client base until late last year at age 88. Jim attended Fork Christian Church in Kingsville, Maryland for 68 years and was a member for 55 years. He also was a member of Odd Fellows, Lodge #79 for 68 years.
Jim loved his family and many friends dearly. He also loved his church, visiting the Great Smoky Mountains, traveling, flowers, animals, working crossword puzzles, and Garth, his beloved dog of 16 years. His calm demeanor and quick wit made him a friend to many.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye (Wheeler) Scrivnor, their son Jimmy, Jr., and his sister Jean Smith (spouse Everett "Smitty" who was like a brother to Jim).
Jim is survived by his wife, Janet "Buttons" (Ford) (Burkhart) Scrivnor, his daughter, Amy McAdams (spouse Steve), grandchildren, Brennan and Griffin McAdams, Zack & Jackie Scrivnor (their mother Sandy Scrivnor), Skylar Scrivnor, and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by step-daughters Debbie (Burkhart) Daniels and Vickie (Burkhart) Ridings and their children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held in Kingsville, Maryland at Fork Christian Church, 6810 Sunshine Avenue on July 16, 2022 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital, or Fork Christian Church.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Sacred Ground Hospice House and the University of Tennessee Hospital hospice team.
