James " Jim " Schutt, 82, passed away Sunday December 20,2020 at his residence in Galveston IN. He was a loving person and caring person who touched many lives. He was born in Cumberland IN to James Byron Schutt and Jeanette Amelia Sophia Kissel Schutt on November 19,1938. After graduating from Warren Central High School in 1956 Jim worked at the Gulf Gas Station in Cumberland and the Schutt blacksmith shop in Cumberland. He served many years as the Chief of the Buck Creek Township Fire Department ( 1969-1971, 1974-1977, 1979-1980 and 1988), and he worked as a job setter at Chrysler Corporation retiring in 1997. Jim enjoyed building and repairing computers and doing woodworking projects. Jim is survived by his wife Patricia Kirkhoff Schutt and six children Mary Ann Schutt, James D Schutt wife Karen, Judy A Tague husband Bruce, Charles B Schutt, Kevin D Schutt wife Tamera and Christina K Chevalier husband Mike. He survived by a sister Joyce Ballard and grandchildren Shannon, Amanda, Joy, Eric, Samantha, Dylan, Christopher, Deanna, Casey, Katie, Sarah, Ashley and Austin, and greatgrandchildren Eli, Sophie, Lucas, Caiden, Mason and Madalynn. He was preceded in death by sisters Marjorie Hopkins, Deloris Schutt, Elaine Hamm and brothers Richard Schutt and Robert Schutt as well as his parents. The family will receive friends from 12PM until 2PM on Saturday December 26,2020 at Hendryx Mortuary Cumberland Chapel 11636 East Washington St, Indianapolis IN. Due to the covid-19 pandemic the funeral services will be private at 2PM. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
